About me
Jodie Blackshaw grew up in the Riverina, NSW and started her journey in music through the public education system. Through her extensive experience in classroom teaching, instrumental music tuition, conducting and composition, Jodie aspires to share her passion for student creativity, discovery and ownership in all of her works for the wind symphony. As a seasoned composer and educator, Blackshaw has been composer-in-residence in multiple locations throughout Asia, Europe and North America. She is regularly commissioned and the subject of multiple post-graduate research projects. Blackshaw has been a strong advocate for woman band composers and her curated database, conference presentations and mentoring has made a profound and positive impact on the wind band community. Jodie proudly represents Australasia on the Board of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles as the Chair of the Composer Network, a committee dedicated to unearthing emerging voices in the international wind band community.
