New Zealand-born violinist Martyn Hentschel, completed a BMus(Hons), studying with Polish violinist Jan Tawroszewicz at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, before moving to Sydney in 1999 to complete a GradDip(Perf) and MMus with the renowned Australian teacher Alice Waten. He then went on to work with Sydney Philharmonia and the Opera Australia Orchestra, as well as building an extensive list of credits, recording for film, television, theatre, and contemporary albums. Upon turning his focus to music education, Martyn completed an MTeach(Secondary), making the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholars List at the University of New England. He worked at Sydney Grammar School as a string specialist before taking on the role of Head of Strings at Cranbrook School, a position he has held for the last ten years. Martyn regularly appears as an adjudicator, Professional Development presenter, or guest conductor and is the current secretary of the Australian Strings Association NSW.
