About me
Ryan Parks is a conductor and music educator based in Melbourne, Australia. Originally from the United States, he relocated to Melbourne in 2017 after earning a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Delaware. He currently serves as the Director of Bands and Classroom Music Teacher at Our Lady of Sion College in Box Hill and is furthering his academic qualifications through a Master of Music Education and Wind Conducting at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
Ryan is an active contributor to Melbourne’s vibrant band community. He is the Musical Director of the A Grade Melbourne Symphonic Winds and the Engineering Music Society Symphonic Wind Ensemble at the University of Melbourne. He has also previously conducted the Southern Area Wind Band.
Dedicated to professional growth and collaboration, Ryan serves as the Vice President of the Victorian chapter of the Australian Band & Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA). His expertise has been recognised through various engagements, including conducting one of the symphonic bands at the Melbourne Youth Orchestra Summer School (2023). Ryan has also given presentations about rehearsal techniques and technology in the rehearsal at ABODA Victoria’s Conducting Summer School (2025) and to music ensemble directors in Tasmania.
Ryan’s enthusiasm for wind band music, first nurtured during his time in the United States, continues to flourish as he shares his passion to musicians and audiences throughout the greater Victorian community.
